This year, we've explored many new ventures, including stepping into the world of film! We were commissioned to design the poster and title for a local short film. DIPMAD has deep ties to Hong Kong cinema, with many current and former film industry professionals on our team.

"The Departure" is a 2024 short film project funded by the Film Development Council, exploring the thoughts and decisions of individuals from different backgrounds regarding whether to stay or leave the city. Though the 30-minute film may be challenging to grasp, it exudes a sense of melancholy throughout. Perhaps, after watching, we find ourselves standing at a similar crossroads, pondering our choices. We captured scenes from the film, combining typography and visual design with the beauty of photography, to faithfully reflect the film's atmosphere.
On a side note, looking at the poster designs of local commercial films, we can't help but feel a bit speechless (laughs). Is there really an inevitable connection between commercial considerations and aesthetic expression? DIPMAD’s official answer: absolutely not.
